The NYC Long COVID Needs Assessment and Action Plan (NAAP) is a major research and advocacy project designed in collaboration with grassroots community groups in New York City. The NAAP focuses on people with Long COVID from highly affected communities whose needs have largely been overlooked, including monolingual Spanish speakers, people living with HIV, trans and non-binary people, and children/youth.
Armed with data and a growing alliance of local, state and national groups, we will insist on our rights to medical care, financial and other support, workplace and school accommodations, and an end to bias in healthcare systems.
This project was launched in October 2023, and is funded in part due to a generous grant from the New York Health Foundation.

Project Highlights
The Action Plan component of the NAAP includes the creation and distribution of health education materials with clear, non-technical language on topics like: tests, treatment, and self-care; tips for talking to your medical providers and sharing recent research with them; real world tips for resting and pacing, managing work and school, and asking for accommodations. This includes additional resources for highly affected communities like monolingual Spanish speakers, people living with HIV, trans and non-binary people, and children/youth.
Long COVID Is A Trans Issue is an ongoing series that provides resources and support for trans and non-binary communities facing high rates of Long COVID. This series is co-hosted with our partner Trans Equity. Visit the Long COVID is a trans issue page to check out our webinar recording and related resources.
