Long COVID Justice / S4HI director Emi Kane has endorsed a letter from World Health Network that urges the World Health Organization (WHO) to recognize respirators as the default standard of protection in healthcare settings.
As World Health Network explains, “The letter respectfully calls on the WHO to strengthen its infection prevention guidance by recognizing respirators as the default standard of protection in healthcare settings, given the overwhelming evidence showing the inadequacy of surgical masks against airborne pathogens. Our stance is based on science, equity, and a commitment to safeguarding both healthcare workers and patients—especially those most vulnerable to complications from airborne infections.
We hope you will consider joining as an Endorser, adding your name to the growing community of medical, scientific, and public health advocates promoting strong, protective measures in healthcare. Endorsement deadline: November 10, 2025.”
