Year in review, plus news on what’s next

It has been a year of difficult moments –  from pandemic denialism to cutting essential programs – and we know many of our community members are struggling. Long COVID Justice will never stop fighting for our community. When public health infrastructure doesn’t support our needs, we organize to share lifesaving information. When they try to silence us, we keep speaking up. When doctors ignore or gaslight us, we share resources and organize to fight for the care that we need.

Whether you’re newly sick with Long COVID, or someone who’s lived with disability for years, or a caregiver, a service provider, or someone who cares about disability justice — we’re so glad you’re here. We’re committed to strengthening our disabled communities, and we’re in it for the long haul.

Where we’ve been…

  • Shared crucial health information to over 31,000 people in our network through the Long COVID Essentials project
  • Reached a wide audience of community members, practitioners, and community organizers through social media, webinars, articles, podcasts, and conferences
  • Explored the intersections of Long COVID and disability justice at Breathing for Justice
  • LCJ’s Director, Emi Kane, and BIPOC Fellow, Jenna Bitar, both spoke on the The Sick Times’ Long COVID Awareness Day panel
  • Engaged in cross-movement organizing with Peoples Hub’s Resisting COVID Denialism cohort, Healing Justice Lineages, Disability Culture Lab, HIV Caucus, and more
  • Launched the HIV Complexities Project with a webinar and support group.

Where we’re headed…

  • Supporting HIV networks to integrate Long COVID and complex chronic illness into their work
  • Investing in our BIPOC Fellows and Long COVID Communicators to disrupt dominant narratives about disability and chronic illness
  • Launching the website for Listening for the Long Haul, our oral history project
  • Finishing the Spanish translations of Long COVID Essentials & launching a new outreach toolkit
  • Organizing with activists from across the country to create resources for fighting mask bans.
